Hello! Welcome to Simply Healthy Samantha.
My name is, you guessed it, Samantha. I'm a fairly typical twenty-something girl trying to live a healthier lifestyle. I was born and raised in metro-Detroit (Canton, for those familiar with the area); I relocated in 2011 and am now living in downtown Chicago with my boyfriend, Gian, and our cat, Chester. I make my living as an Executive Assistant at a private equity firm, but my real passion lies in singing; I can be found performing in solo concerts and cabarets as well as self-directed, small-scale musical productions. I spend my free time thumbing through cookbooks, catching local theatre, cheering on the Blackhawks & Bears (and Red Wings & Lions, of course), enjoying anything involving the water, and drinking lots of wine. Life is good.

About This BlogI've been overweight my whole life. Over the years, and my many weight loss attempts, losing the weight was never the problem; keeping the weight off was the real battle. Each time I was successful in losing weight, it didn't take very long before I'd ultimately gain it all back (and sometimes more). During each phase of my weight loss journey, I kept various blogs to help me stay on track and keep myself accountable. However, their focus, like my own, was solely on losing the weight, not on what really mattered: LIVING A HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE. And so, that's what this blog is about. While the primary focus of this blog will still be documenting my weight loss journey, I hope to use this blog as a tool to help me learn, and remember, all of the elements of living a healthy life: from healthy recipes, to fitness regimens, to skin care, to relaxation tactics, and everything else in between. You will also find posts every now and then about my life in general: the ups, the downs, the good, the bad - the everything. Because "the everything" is what makes up life; and in order to live a healthier lifestyle, you have to live it ... while living your life. |
